1. What is AVI4M?
AVI4M is the Ontario course code for Visual Arts, Grade 12, University/College Preparation. It is a Grade 12 arts course that develops students’ creative, technical, and analytical skills through art production, visual communication, and the study of art and artistic practices.
2. What does 4M mean in AVI4M?
The 4M in AVI4M refers to the grade level and course type. The number 4 indicates that the course is designed for Grade 12 students, and the letter M indicates that it is a University/College Preparation course.
3. What is the prerequisite for AVI4M?
The prerequisite for AVI4M is Visual Arts, Grade 11, University/College Preparation (AVI3M).
4. How long does it take to complete the AVI4M online course?
The time required to complete AVI4M depends on each student’s pace. The course can be completed in as little as 4 weeks, with up to 6 months available for completion. Longer timelines may be available with approval from the Principal.
5. Will my AVI4M marks be sent directly to OUAC or OCAS?
Yes. Royal Ontario Academy can send your AVI4M course marks to OUAC (Ontario Universities’ Application Centre) or OCAS (Ontario College Application Service), when applicable.
6. How are AVI4M lessons delivered online?
AVI4M is delivered asynchronously through Royal Ontario Academy’s online learning environment. Students work through course content at their own pace using a variety of learning materials and activities, including visual demonstrations, videos, written content, creative projects, art-making activities, reflections, presentations, and selected external resources.
7. What is the withdrawal policy for AVI4M?
AVI4M is a Grade 12 course. If a student withdraws within 5 days of the issuance of the first (mid-term) report card from Royal Ontario Academy, the course and mark will not be recorded on the Ontario Student Transcript (OST). If a student withdraws more than 5 days after the issuance of the first (mid-term) report card, a “W” will be entered in the credit column of the OST, along with the student’s mark at the time of withdrawal.
8. What is the due date for my AVI4M course?
AVI4M is self-paced, so there are no set weekly due dates. Students can progress through the course at their own pace within the permitted course completion period. Students should plan their studies carefully if they need their final mark by a specific university, college, graduation, or other application deadline.
9. Can I earn OSSD credits through online courses?
Yes. Royal Ontario Academy offers Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credit courses online. Students must meet the OSSD graduation requirements that apply to their cohort, including the required compulsory and optional credits, the provincial literacy requirement, community involvement activities, and any applicable online learning requirements.
